bald is beautiful...

i have a dose of reality every day when i look in the mirror, because i'm bald. (very immediate family has only been privy to this - it was only bad for the first day - now i'm laughing at all you hairy folk because i'm nice and cool in this 90 degree weather while your sweatin' your booties off...plus, my prep time to get ready has been cut drastically in half - awesomeness...)

almost daily i would tease bobby when i would take him to school. i would get ready to walk out the door missing a very essential something. and he would let me know:

"uh, mommy...aren't you forgetting something?"

"what?"

"uh...YOUR HAIR!"

"oooooh, well, can't i just take you to school like this?"

"uh...no."

(i'm pretty sure his "uh" is his way of making the blow a little softer.)

so, i'd put on my detacheable mane, and we'd be off.

there was another day we were walking to school with his friend, brooke. we walked past the park and i saw someone i knew. she asked me if i colored my hair. i asked her if she was serious. she said yes, why. i said it was a wig. bobby immediately leaned over to his friend, and whispered in her ear,

"my mom can take off her hair. do you wanna see it?"

i think he thinks it's funny. embarrassing. weird. sometimes normal.

pretty much how i feel.

but today, today was where i thought...really?!

who: the johnson five and the sullivan girls minus one (this one's for the homie in louisiana)
when: this afternoon
where: sams club cereal aisle
why: buying snacks for girls camp
what: my six year old screams - almost as if it were tourettes:

"MY MOM HAS NO HAIR!!!!"

i looked at my friends, who looked at me, and we all burst into laughter.

because what he said was true.
did that truth hurt?
for like .01 seconds.
and then it was so funny.

being bald has its perks.
