...

it's so silly to put such an emphasis on a day. but i do.
some people love christmas, some love 4th of july.
i love LOVE new years. i always have, and i'm sure i always will.

i don't know if it's the fresh start. if it's the "ok" to stay up past midnight. or if it's because i've been watching dick clark count down the ball drop in times square since i was little (one day i'll see it - one day).

but i love new years.

and this year's especially.

i've had a lot of trials this year. i've been (and am) on an emotional roller coaster. but to be completely and utterly honest, i did not imagine i would make it through the last year. not emotionally, and not physically.

but i did.

and i'm here.

and i spent the new year with the one person who has been through it all with me. who never left my bedside as i lay in the hospital. who rubbed my back as i was so sick. who washed my hair and bathed me when i couldn't stand. who was still my friend when i was not his. who has loved me completely and utterly unconditionally.

and i'll forever have that vision of us being together - just him and me - at that stroke of midnight - watching the ball drop in time square- him helping me finish the year i didn't think i'd finish, and taking me to the next year where i didn't think i'd be. another year watching my kids grow. another year with him.

imperfectly perfect. me and him.

happy new year.

Dude.... good thing you drove 17 hours with 3 kids to come to our house so that we could spend New Years together! Wow! Your friends the Wirthlin's suck!
And I love this post. You are cool. And I love you. Usually.
